Serving God's kingdom:
Reverend Sheriolyn Curry Lasley is the Pastor of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. Having started the formal process to Ordained ministry in 2003, it is clear that Pastor Lasley was born to serve.
Pastor Lasley began her relationship with God as a young child and was called to ministry in her early twenties. Though she says that she spent the next 20 years running from that call, she continued to serve God and His people in several other capacities.
We are a AME Church rooted in the Methodist tradition. We believe in the sovereignty of a triune God who is God the father, God the Son and got the Holy Spirit. We believe that all have sinned and that salvation and forgiveness of sin is through the Son, Jesus Christ who was born of a virgin, died on a cross and was raised from the dead. He resides in the presence of the Father but shall return to redeem those who have accepted him as Lord and Savior. We believe in the Bible as God's Holy Spirit inspired and inerrant Word to mankind.
Pastor Lasley finally accepted her call to ministry in 2003 and enrolled in Seminary that same year. This began her journey toward Ordained ministry in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She grew in her ministry and became an Itinerant Deacon in 2005 and Itinerant Elder in 2008.
In 2007, Pastor Lasley obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit and planted Mt. Moriah Community A.M.E. Church in Maricopa, Arizona. The process of founding, planting, and building this church community had given Pastor Lasley the honored opportunity to watch God work through her as well as through the awesome people God sent to assist her in the building of that vision. In October of 2012, God gave Pastor Lasley yet another assignment when she was appointed to be the Pastor of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Her ministry to the Kingdom of God continues to grow to this very day.
Pastor Lasley loves watching lives transform through the power of the Word, advancing the Kingdom, and empowering others to utilize their God-given gifts and talents. She believes that every individual, despite their background, should be heard and wholly ministered to spiritually, emotionally, financially, and intellectually. Pastor Lasley is apt to teach and to learn, and her various experiences in ministry and administration has solidified in her just how excellent God truly is. Her mission is to serve mankind with excellence and to the glory of God!
In June of 2012, Pastor Lasley was awarded the Positively Powerful Woman Award for Spiritual Leadership. Pastor Lasley is currently serving on the Board of Examiners for the Desert/Mountain Annual Conference, 5th Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church. The BOE is the body that trains and prepares persons for Ordained ministry. She teaches the 2nd Year course of studies.
Pastor Lasley married Roderick (Rod) Lasley in 2006. This union created a blended family with a total of 6 adult children between the two of them. The Lasley family continues to grow as they are also blessed with 7 beautiful grandchildren.
